women of color faculty retreatS

Join other women of color for a professional development weekend dedicated to you - your success, your wellness, your joy.
With great pain, I have decided not to offer a Fall 2021 retreat due to COVID-19. I plan a return to the mountain in Fall 2022 when the health risk of gathering and travel will likely be negligible.

Join the waitlist to receive a $100 retreat coupon and be the first to register for the next retreat.

I know first hand the various ways the academy can be a dangerous place for WOC. The retreat offered me a chance to be my authentic self and feel the love and support I've missed. Thank you!

This was an amazing and life changing experience. This was the first retreat where I attended as a woman of color faculty member where it was about who I am and not what I do.

This was a life changing experience. There are not spaces or opportunity for WOC to pause, reflect, and reset. This retreat has allowed us that space. I recommend this experience [at] least once a year for women of color...

I am excited to leave the retreat moving toward my ideal schedule in a tangible fashion...and I have a realistic goal to get more sleep with a plan and an accountability partner. I look forward to lifting the fog over my brain and the clarity of thought and direction to come!

Funding the Retreat

Securing institutional funding for a women of color faculty retreat can be challenging. We get it.

Several participants have been successful after an initial "no" using our retreat rationale document. It links the retreat's objectives to empirical evidence on the retention and progression of women of color faculty. Download and share with your decision makers or include parts in your request for support.

WellAcademic also offers a limited number of grants to offset the retreat cost for faculty paying out-of-pocket. More information is available on the FAQ: Cost and Options page.

Hi! I'm Roxanne Donovan.

WellAcademic owner. Psychologist. Full professor. Yoga teacher wanna-be. Mama to two kids born while I was untenured (yes, it was an intense time). And, best of all, your lead retreat facilitator.

I've been practicing in the areas of health and wellness for 20+ years. As a Black feminist (cis)woman of multiracial descent (Black/Asian/White), I'm deeply committed to developing programs, like this retreat, that help women of color find pathways to joy, wellness, connection, and achievement in their work-life.

And I know from experience that carving out these pathways is possible, even in terrain filled with systemic, institutional, and interpersonal obstacles.

Feel free to email me to learn more. I personally respond to all my messages.
