A professional development weekend devoted to your success, your wellness, your joy.
JOIN OUR WAITLISTFall 2022 retreat: Sept 30 - Oct 3
Due to COVID-19, we are not planning a Fall 2021 retreat.

I know first hand the various ways the academy can be a dangerous place for WOC. The retreat offered me a chance to be my authentic self and feel the love and support I've missed. Thank you!

Attendees report learning how to better...

Achieve goals

Manage high work demands

Cope with stress

Address perfectionism and imposter syndrome

This was a life-changing experience. There are not enough spaces or opportunities for WOC to pause, reflect, and reset. This retreat has allowed us that space. I recommend this experience at last once a year for WOC faculty.

Funding the retreat...
Securing institutional funding for a woman of color faculty retreat can be challenging. We get it.
To help, WellAcademic offers a limited number of grants to community members who would benefit from the retreat but need assistance covering the costs. Grants are on a first-come, first-served basis. Because we are only able to offer a limited number and do not ask for proof of need, please do not seek a grant if you have the means to attend the retreat without this assistance. Contact Roxanne for more information.
Several participants have been successful after an initial "no" using our retreat rationale document. It links the retreat's objectives to empirical evidence on the retention and progression of women of color faculty. Download and share with your decision-makers or include parts in your request for support.
I know what you're thinking...
Will I have to disclose anything personal?
I'm not a vegetarian, and I like my coffee...a lot. Will I be hungry and in coffee withdrawal at this retreat?
What are the rooms like?
How is Elohee for those with reduced mobility?
Is there cellphone and WiFi service?
How does registration work?
May I use university funds?
What is your refund policy?
What happens if WellAcademic has to cancel the retreat?
What happens if I miss the retreat, arrive late, or leave early?

The fellowship and compassion we were able to feel provided an abundant source of energy to recharge my career. Not short of amazing!
Flavia Bastos, PhD, Professor
This was an amazing and life-changing experience. It was the first retreat where I attended as a woman of color faculty where it was about who I am and not what I do.
