Post-retreat networking opportunities
Can I arrive on Thursday if I want to get settled before the start of the retreat?
Yes, retreaters have the option of adding Thursday to their stay for extra rest, renewal, and exploration prior to retreat start. The discounted Thursday night rate includes accommodations in the same cottage room assigned during the retreat, all taxes/fees, use of the grounds for exploration and relaxation, dinner on Thursday, and breakfast and lunch on Friday. Thursday check-in is between 3 and 5 p.m.
For 2019 retreats, the Thursday night rate is as follows
Basic single-occupancy room: $330
A premium single-occupancy room: $420
A double-occupancy room: $315 per person
What optional services are available?
The availability of the options below are limited. They are on a first come, first served basis.
Individual coaching with Joycelyn Moody for 30 minutes ($100) or 60 minutes ($200)
60-minute ($90) massages with one of Elohee's licensed professional massage therapists.
Can you tell me more about individual coaching?
This option provides the opportunity to work one-on-one with Joycelyn Moody, PhD, an experienced coach, former editor, and distinguished scholar of African American literature. The best coaching candidate is someone whose ready to honestly and quickly confront impediments to professional success and satisfaction. Sessions can be scheduled in-person at the retreat or by phone prior to the retreat start. To maximize the time with Joycelyn and to tap into her favored areas of expertise, participants pick one of three themes to focus the session:
Integrating healing and resiliency practices in daily life;
Determining Next Steps in the Academy; or
Addressing Toxic Work Environments.
Are discounts available?
We offer our WellAcademic Community Members Early Bird Registration ($100 off posted rate by deadline) and a general member discount ($50). Only one of these member benefits can be used at a time, and they cannot be combined with other deductions, promotions, or grants.
We also have two $500 grants available to WellAcademic Community Members who would benefit from the retreat but need assistance to afford the full price. These grants cannot be combined with any other deductions or promotions, including Early Bird Registration. Grantees are unable to purchase massages or individual coaching. Grants are on a first come, first served basis. Because we are only able to offer two grants and do not ask for proof of need, please do not seek a grant if you have the means to attend the retreat without this assistance.
If you are a WellAcademic Community Member and would like to request a grant, please contact Roxanne Donovan at Roxanne@WellAcademic.com. Not a member? Join here.
What about transportation?
Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson is the closest national/international airport to Elohee (approximately two hours, depending on traffic). Those flying to Hartsfield on Friday may purchase the optional round-trip transportation shuttle via the WellAcademic registration document. The service is arranged by WellAcademic but provided by Airport Star Shuttle. The cost is $100 for the roundtrip. Friday pickup occurs curbside outside of baggage claim at noon. The shuttle departs Elohee at 1:15 PM on Sunday. More details are provided to those who register. Space is limited to the first 10 registrants who purchase the service.
Those arriving on Thursday or who prefer not to purchase the shuttle option need to secure their own ground transportation to Elohee. The airport has several rental car options. If six or more participants arriving on Thursday would like to share a shuttle, WellAcademic can arrange the transportation.
