After a long hiatus, I’m getting back on the blog post train, and what better time to do so than January. It is not only the start of the new year but also my birthday month, resulting in lots of personal reflection.
This reflection has got me thinking about how the dance between the professional and the personal can be challenging to choreograph in ways that promote optimal wellness. When the choreography is right, it results in harmony, connection, and health.
The problem for many of us, me included, is the professional and personal can get out of sync bringing all manner of immediate and long-term negative consequences, including stress, disconnection, and illness—not things you or I want to invite into our lives in 2016. So one of my resolutions this year is to focus my next four monthly blog posts on ways to shift an out-of-sync professional-personal dance to one that promotes health and wellness.
This dance has just four steps:
To increase the likelihood I will follow through on my resolution, I am committing in writing to posting each step on the 20th of the month, starting on January 20th, my birthday.
Whether you read the steps as I post them or later in the year, I hope they help you move a little closer to your ideal self. I know the process of writing about these steps will remind me of what I need to do to make 2016 a better year than 2015.
In peace and solidarity,
